Somehow ─ despite not getting to bed last night until 12:15 a.m. or so ─ I was away by 3:11 a.m. on a five-mile round trip walk into the downtown Whalley area. In total, after stopping at an elementary school playground to try and do pull-ups both early and late into the walk, I was gone about two hours.
Over the course of the evening just prior, I had consumed a glass of red wine, and then later on followed that with two cans of strong (8% alcohol) malt as I watched T.V. via our Android TV Box with my younger brother, who had managed to get home by approximately 9:20 p.m.
We were only to watch an episode each of Killing Eve and Inspector Morse, but those brought us to midnight.
When I got myself to bed, I had set my cellphone alarm for 3 a.m., not in the least looking forward to having to be getting up then for that walk. However, I suppose that a bit of hangover set in that negatively affected my sleep, for I was to eventually find myself awake and feeling overheated. When it seemed that a return to sleep was nowhere near, I decided to check the time: 2:56 a.m.
What the heck?!
So I reluctantly got myself up, and probably managed to soon slip away without my eldest stepson noticing ─ he was evidently still up.
I had no spirit for the walk, and practically just slowly plodded along. The night was drying following rain the entirety of the daytime; and there was a nearly chilly breeze. The dark sky was a mix of lots of relatively light cloud with the typical blacker breaks of sheer distant space.
This was the first time this year that I found myself unable to perform even a single pull-up. I expect that some of the reason was due to how little sleep I had enjoyed, along with the other deleterious effects of that slight hangover.
But I also know that I was probably weighing over 200 pounds fully clothed as I was. For most of my adult life, my 'fighting weight' has been in the lower 180s, but I am now 72 years old ─ the extra body weight baggage that has accumulated is definitely burdensome.
It was discouraging, but I will wait and see how I perform when next I have a similar hike early in the a.m. of Thursday.
I never weighed myself this morning, so my weight while entirely stripped down and prior to eating anything is something of a mystery. I just know that I felt logey. Thus, my status during the walk may well have been exceptional and not what I should otherwise expect where those attempted pull-ups were concerned.
My wife had come home last night sometime between when I retired and when I rose for the walk (we have separate bedrooms). I thought that she would be working a full day today, but she was only going to work a half day ─ the Thai restaurant closes for a short time in the mid-afternoon and reopens at 4 p.m.
Unfortunately, she must be gambling again, and owes money. She practically begged for the loan of my credit card. She has already gotten some money from her eldest son. I loaned her the card, but I was unable to say what the P.I.N. is to make a cash advance from an ATM, and she later texted me that the transaction failed. She wanted me to phone the bank to get a new P.I.N., but I have not done so.
She was expecting a large amount of money from her sister, who is resident in Italy. I had the impression that she was going to be able to access the transfer over this past weekend, for she left here early Saturday afternoon in great spirits.
She normally spends most of her weekends somewhere in Vancouver, so I was not expecting her back until Monday.
Now my concern is that she gambled away the entirety of that transfer. She has this month already withdrawn $2,400 from my chequing account, which basically only ever contains my monthly pension. This money was to be repaid from her sister's transfer.
The monthly mortgage is due to be debited this Friday, and my account doesn't even have half of the required funds. I have a suspicion that my wife thinks that she is going to use the credit card to get a cash withdrawal large enough to cover the shortfall, and to also pay back one or more friends she may have borrowed money from.
This is a recurring mess that my wife gets us into, and she always wants me to keep it from her sons. Well, I think that it is time that she comes fully clean and confesses her sins to them, begging them to bail her out. I already have at least a $3,500 debt on my credit card from her past gambling ─ I absolutely must refuse to allow her to plunge me even deeper into debt. She also owes several thousands of dollars for her so-called business of retailing health-related products from Thailand's The iCon Group.
So in total, my card's balance of debt now lies at around $14,000, and I doubt that I am responsible for more than maybe $200 of that monstrous total.
She cannot possibly pay that money off, yet she owes my chequing account $2,400 that absolutely has to be repaid by Friday's mortgage day, and now she wants to be able to withdraw cash from the available credit on the card in order to repay one or more friends to whom she owes money.
She looked miserable this afternoon before she left on her rather long drive to work, and she confessed that she was so sick with worry that she couldn't sleep (she got up at some point while I was having an early afternoon nap).
I know that she is sincerely regretful that she has brought this on, but that is always how this goes. She is so remorseful that she is nearly in tears. Yet the time will come once she is bailed out when she will again be partying with her friends and feeling like a 'Big Shot', and the gambling will start again.
Meantime, I am left with an ever-increasing figure of debt on my credit card that requires hefty monthly payments. I can't keep this up. Her two sons are going to have to be brought in on this, and she is going to have to beg for their financial mercy. Clearly, looking out for me is insufficient ─ she keeps abusing my exposed softness over her and her plight of her own devising. She will not and seemingly can not stop gambling ─ she is good for months, and then it starts anew.
Enough of that topic for this post.
I want to mention a couple of interesting videos that my brother and I watched on T.V. this latter morning via our Android TV Box.
The first was 53-minute interview performed by a very lovely citizen journalist named Taylor Hudak that was uploaded four or so days ago to SUPERU.net: Willem Engel Interview - In A Time of Universal Deceit, Telling The Truth Is A Revolutionary Act.
My guest today is activist Willem Engel, returning to discuss his recent arrests and how these were a blatant attempt at intimidation & suppression of his voice — a voice that is passionately needed in these times of universal deceit. Willem was arrested again in route to a rally for medical freedom, at which he was intending to speak. Now it has been made clear by Dutch authorities that they feel they have the right to remove Willem’s right to freedom of speech. This is simply not true. They do unfortunately have the power to suppress our rights — an unjust power only carried out at the butt of a gun, and with extreme violence. This is not freedom of any kind. This is in fact authoritarianism cloaked as equity. This is an unjust power that we must fight to stifle, and truly eliminate. Voices like Willem are seeking to do just that, and this is exactly why they are so afraid of its reach.
What has been happening with this Willem Engel smacks of what is similarly playing out here in Canada under our Crime Minister Trudope.
The second video I wish to cite was an interview (an hour and 21 minutes) that was performed by Dr. Mercola and which was uploaded to Rumble on April 11: The Key to Longevity- Interview with Dr. Gabrielle Lyon.
In this interview, Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, an osteopathic physician, reviews what I believe is one of the best health optimizing strategies there is, namely strength training. She's a graduate of Midwestern University and has spent a good part of her professional career focusing on how to increase strength and muscle mass, which is an often-overlooked foundation for health and longevity.
Muscle-centric medicine is part of the solution for many chronic health problems, as most are rooted in skeletal muscle insulin resistance.
Resistance training is superior to cardio exercise because muscle mass optimizes you for longevity. The greater your muscle mass, the higher your survivability against all diseases.
You need protein reserves to survive serious disease, and most of your protein reserve is stored in muscle. If you have very little muscle, you're going to pass away prematurely because you have no amino acid reserves. Your muscle also interfaces with your immune system.
It’s never too late to start building muscle, even if you’re in your 70s or even 80s, using diet and exercise.
High-quality animal protein is essential for muscle growth. Most people need 1 gram of protein per pound of ideal body weight (the weight you would ideally be). Divide that by the number of meals you eat to get your per-meal quota which, for older adults should be around 30 to 50 grams per meal.
I surely wish that I could adopt a dietary regimen such as prescribed here, but I am unable to afford to do so. For example, today I am certain that I will be falling below even 75 grammes of protein as a total for the day, and I should probably be taking in more than double that figure ─ i.e., 150 or more grammes.
By the way, my brother watched this video without complaint, for it was not especially technical. Besides, he is 69 years old, and the topic applies to him as much as it does to me.
Before I take leave of today's post, I want to link to a very unusual Canadian website that I just learned of today: JudgementDayCanada.com. Its purpose is to identify everyone ─ politicians, health authorities, police, etc. ─ who have "failed to uphold our rights, they have violated the supreme laws of the land, their oaths and their duties since first declaring lockdowns in March 2020".
We want your input to document and call out everyone who has violated our laws, breeched [sic] their oath of office or been complicit in enforcing unlawful measures.
The purpose is to have the identities of specific individuals recorded in order to facilitate future prosecution once the people of Canada are again in charge of how Canada is governed, and the tyrants are all taken down.
In a similar vein, there is this long (88 pages?) .pdf document put out by Police4FreedomCanada.ca that specifically relates to the province of Manitoba, but which could easily be expanded in scope to cover other provinces: Investigation Into Criminal Allegations Concerning COVID 19 Pandemic Response.
May all concerned be brought to harshest justice!
