I ought to give Sandy, my late old friend William A. G.'s longtime ladyfriend, a phone call. Dear Bill died last month, and a ZOOM memorial service was supposed to have been held for him yesterday ─ it would have been his 76th birthday.
Sandy claimed to have given me the access details for the ZOOM login, but nothing about them was proper. Basically, she had only given me some guy's first and last name, and a Yahoo E-mail address.
I have never used ZOOM, so I had to download the programme and do some research on using it. But all to no avail.
Consequently, I would like to hear what she has to say for herself.
I'll make that call to her following publication of today's post.
Well, my younger brother did not arrive home last evening by the 9:30 p.m. deadline that I have for him. However, I did notice him showing up no later than 9:34 p.m., but a deadline is a deadline ─ why else have one?
I hastily shut down the Android TV Box and switched the T.V. over to its basic cable mode, and hustled myself upstairs to secure myself here in this combination computer room / bedroom. I might well have been into my bed by 9:45 p.m. at very latest.
Oh, what a miserable time of it I had trying to sleep! I was fully aware when my wife seemed to have gotten home following her full day working at the Thai restaurant where she has part-time employment. (She and I have adjacent bedrooms.)
To my great grief, I was still miserably awake when I eventually realized that my brother had come upstairs to seek his own bedroom for the night. I did not check the time, but it was unlikely that he did so earlier than 11 p.m.
When I watch shows with him via our Android TV Box, midnight is our target, so I surely hope that was not the situation last night.
This truly is horrendous, trying to find sleep that early into the latter evening. To be honest, I dread retiring that early because the aftermath for me is so damned torturously cruel.
And I do not understand why achieving sleep has to be so difficult.
Nevertheless, I had set my cellphone alarm for 3 a.m., and I dutifully responded once I became aware that it was sounding. I had a five-mile walk planned.
By the time I was outside the locked front door and on my way, it was 3:16 a.m. There was a chilly breeze, but all was dry despite mostly clouded sky. Early into the walk, I did feel some inconsequential specklings of rain.
As has become my wont, I stopped at an elementary school playground early into and towards the end of the walk in order to seek some pull-ups on the exercise rings that are there.
As for the rather boring walk itself, I had some concerns that the inflammation that was recently affecting longitudinal tendons in my left foot, and the sheathing of muscle alongside my outer shin in the area above my ankle, would restrict my distance. However, I was blessed and took the walk with an easy enough pace that the condition did not manifest.
This was very encouraging.
Even so, I had stiffened up everywhere so much by the time I visited that school playground for the second time, it took me four sets of a single attempt each before I was loosened up sufficiently to come near to achieving a solitary pull-up.
By the time I was back home and upstairs here at my computer, it was 5:08 a.m. And I was back into bed at 6 a.m. after allowing myself some time to 'come down' from the stimulation of the walk's effort.
I still slept ill thereafter.
I suppose that it was around 8:30 a.m. that I decided that I might as well get up for the morning. And when I did, I was considerably surprised to discover that my dear wife was up and downstairs in the kitchen busy preparing a large stir fry for one and all.
My brother was not yet up, so she and I had some conversation relating to money matters.
She did have to put in another full workday today, but her start time ─ or at least, the restaurant's opening time ─ is 11 a.m. She eventually left here with far more time than she needed for the rather long drive.
I had noticed that the street outside was wet from earlier rain.
My brother and I were watching videos via our Android TV Box by the time my wife left on her drive.
The only video I will cite was the hour and 52-minute Action4Canada April 1st upload that was primarily an interview by hostess Tanya Gaw of guest Farren Lander: 5G, EMF Wireless Technology and the Impact on our Health.
My brother and I very much admire firebrand Tanya Gaw, for she is resident in our locale ─ i.e., Surrey. A few months back (it was on January 10) I even E-mailed the Surrey chapter of Action4Canada to enquire about membership, but I never got a response back.
I mentioned the earlier rain. Well, that was nothing. Perhaps around 10 a.m. or soon thereafter, it began hailing / snowing / raining intensely enough for there to be an accumulation of white on roofs and even lawns. And then the rain took over, eventually clearing the white entirely away.
It has not rained all of the afternoon, though ─ fortunately. And lucky me with the timing of my early a.m. walk!
Concerning that walk in the Whalley area, the present boundaries of the territory I cover are 108th and 96th Avenues, and 132nd Street and King George Boulevard (136th Street) ─ the marker on this Google Map indicates the centre point.
As shown, to precisely follow those boundaries, one would perform a four-mile circuit. So to achieve five miles, I cover the space between 132nd Street and King George Boulevard four times, since each span is a half mile (four blocks). I try to take a variety of different roads within that grid ─ I do not follow any of the boundaries for their entirety due to distaste of traffic.
Whenever I notice anyone ahead of me in sufficient time, I will take a detour on my route, for most pedestrians are likely street people and / or drug addicts.
I want to make note that when I weighed myself around 1 p.m. just prior to having anything to eat today, I had stripped off every article of clothing. Even so, just as was the case yesterday, I am hovering at 192 pounds, with what appears to be an inclination towards the 193-pound mark as opposed to the 191-pound level.
I am approximately five feet and 10¾ inches in height (179.705 centimetres) at 72 years of age. As might be imagined, even managing a single pull-up while fully clothed for the night outdoors is quite a feat, since I must surely weigh nigh 200 pounds, if not a bit more. I did manage two pull-ups in the second set when I first attended the elementary school (I seek to perform four sets with each visit).
This late afternoon just prior to commencing this post, and despite a short earlier nap, I had declined so severely that I felt I might need to postpone a scheduled exercise session ─ I was just too lacking. Nevertheless, I laid down for at least 20 minutes in an attempt to rally.
I did eventually force the exercise session, even though it was lacklustre. At my age, I do not feel that I can take many liberties where avoidance of exercise is concerned.
I had better get that phone call made ─ it is already already after 7:30 p.m. I will only add that my brother did, as usual, head off ere mid-afternoon for his daily 'socializing', so it's anyone's guess if he will be home by 9:30 p.m. (his deadline).
Or if he will be sober enough for me to bear his company.
