This post will be relatively short.
Even though my younger brother did not arrive home last evening by the 9:30 p.m. deadline that I have in place for him, and I consequently got to bed well before 10 p.m. ─ maybe more like 9:45 p.m. ─ I slept most ill.
I even rose ahead of 4 a.m. for a couple of hours, and still fared poorly with sleep thereafter. I likely commenced my morning shortly after 8:30 a.m., but waited until around 8:50 a.m. ere going downstairs to boil water for a mug of instant coffee with 'the works' and then to join my younger brother at T.V. where I soon had our Android TV Box in play.
The day was more sunshine than cloud, but it has been darned unpleasantly chilly in the shade. After I posted here early last evening, we experienced quite a lengthy hailstorm and three bursts of lightning and thunder ─ the first blast of lighting was so near that I could hear it sizzle!
The hailstorm gave way to rain eventually, but this morning shaded areas still had a frost-like broken blanket of frozen hail. I would not be surprised if we had a wee bit of frost overnight.
I never did get out shopping after yesterday's post. I will not bother until after I am able to access my chequing account online so I can see where my account's balance lies. The financial institution shut down all online and telephone access for five days, as well as closing branches. Access will not be restored until sometime this coming Wednesday morning.
Some people have claimed that even their debit cards have failed, although this is not supposed to be happening. But this is another reason I am not risking any shopping ─ it is humiliating trying to pay for some groceries, only to find that it cannot be done.
I have some concern that the cheque I wrote to the City of Surrey to pay our annual utilities early this month will not be negotiated if this transaction is attempted during the course of the five days my financial institution is practically inaccessible (due to some claimed major systems upgrade).
Anyway, after watching some T.V. with my brother this latter morning until nearly 1 p.m., he retired to his bedroom for a little rest, and then he left for the afternoon to commence his daily 'socializing' somewhere.
I did not specifically take note of when I sought my early afternoon nap, but it may not have been any later than 1:30 p.m. If so, then I was to find myself abed for over three hours ─ a clear indication of how badly I slept overnight.
And so having spent quite possibly more than half of the afternoon in bed, I left myself little time to work on the ongoing post I have been slowly building at one of my two hosted websites. That took me into the early evening before I was able to start work on this post.
Will my brother make it home before 9:30 p.m. this evening, or will I be once again getting to bed early? He did arrive very soon after 9:30 p.m. yesterday, but a deadline is a deadline, even if he is unaware that there is one.
I would very much like to retire early if I am able to sleep, for I have an early a.m. walk planned. I would like to be able to rise at 3 a.m. to ready for it, and try to put in at least five miles of leisured walking.
Notwithstanding that, it would also be nice to enjoy some evening T.V. with a couple of cans of strong malt (8% alcohol), provided my brother is not sloshed. It has now been several days since I have enjoyed such an ideal evening. I only have a beer when I am watching our shows with my brother during the latter evening ─ the morning is generally for alternate fare. However, this morning was slightly different, for I capped our viewing with an episode of one of the series we follow (DC's Legends of Tomorrow) because we are falling so far behind with our evening T.V. viewing.
So we shall see what befalls tonight.
By the way, one of the reasons I remained home instead of going out to do a little shopping last evening ─ apart from not knowing the state of my chequing account balance, and the miserable Wintry-like weather ─ was that it was still daylight by 8 p.m., and I hate venturing forth into the public during the light of day. As well, yesterday my self-confidence and self-esteem were extremely low.
Enough for this post ─ it is already 8:14 p.m.
