Show Me

I rose overnight to my 1:30 a.m. cellphone alarm, but from the sounds of it, absolutely no one else had yet gone to bed. Consequently, I remained in my bedroom with the door closed.

My wife was the first to retire.

My younger brother never gave up the T.V. and went to bed until 2 a.m. My speculation was that he had either passed out for some while and / or was into the emotion of his long Remembrance Day and its associations.

When at last I was set to go and in need of the bathroom, I opened my bedroom door to find that the bathroom was occupied. I discerned that my eldest stepson was downstairs, so it could only be my youngest. There was naught for me to do but surreptitiously make my way out of the house and seek relief in the alleyway that runs by our home.

I believe that it was as late as 2:50 a.m. ere I was on my way. I knew that there was some rain, but I rightly deduced that it was not of sufficient concern that I would need the umbrella that I brought along in my tote bag.

However, the very light rain deterred me from making a stop at the elementary school playground maybe three blocks from here. It would not have been possible to wipe a bar dry enough to use ... had I brought along a bandana, which I had not.

That would have meant using my relatively thin gloves, and I had no desire to wet them at the start of my walk.

There wasn't anything of note worth reporting about the walk, except that I felt myself to be making decent time. And the rain actually did cease anon.

By the time I was returning towards home and was cutting through the back of the school property, there were vast clear sections of sky, and light broken clouds were swiftly moving away.

I decided to at least have a token few sets of pull-ups and chin-ups, so I went to the older kids' playground and used my jacket sleeves to give a jungle gym monkey bar a few wipes, but the job proved inadequate. By the time I had managed five pull-ups, my hands had just about lost their grip due to steady slippage. And so I undertook a second set of two pull-ups.

Those were followed by a set of three chin-ups; and then over on the gymnastics-style rings, I managed two pull-ups between a pair of those, and then held a hang after descending from the last pull-up ─ but only for a bit better than a 25-count.

It was 4:40 a.m. by the time I was back home, by which time both of my stepsons had evidently retired.

I was back to bed well before 6 a.m., and remained there until possibly a little ahead of 8:30 a.m.

My younger brother had still not emerged from his bedroom by 9 a.m., so I took possession of the T.V. downstairs and used our Android TV Box to tune in a few YouTube videos via the SmartTube app.

My wife emerged from her bedroom around 9:30 a.m. and after showering and such, she left for a full workday at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time ─ she left well ahead of 10 a.m. Apart from an initial 'good morning' and then a 'bye' as she left, we had no conversation. I merely responded in kind.

Towards 9:45 a.m. I gave up on my brother and began playing a 1½-hour (1:34:00) video streamed yesterday to Rumble's TFM Report channel: Special Guest Dr. William Makis.

We are joined by Canadian hero doctor, Dr. William Makis. A Canadian physician with expertise in Radiology, Oncology and Immunology. Governor General's Medal, University of Toronto Scholar. Author of 100+ peer-reviewed medical publications.

I don't recall watching this couple's podcast before, nor even hearing of it, but I enjoyed them. In fact, this was one of the best interviews with Dr. Makis I have yet seen.

Note that my brother did join me reasonably early into the video, but after my wife had gone.

The video finished around 11:20 a.m., so next I played a 15-minute (15:12) video uploaded January 12, 2016, to YouTube's Proper Gander channel: Anonymous and the Church of Scientology - Project Chanology.

Project Chanology (also called Operation Chanology) was a protest movement against the practices of the Church of Scientology by members of Anonymous, a leaderless Internet-based group that defines itself as ubiquitous. The project was started in response to the Church of Scientology's attempts to remove material from a highly publicized interview with Scientologist Tom Cruise from the Internet in January 2008.

The project was publicly launched in the form of a video posted to YouTube, "Message to Scientology", on January 21, 2008. The video states that Anonymous views Scientology's actions as Internet censorship, and asserts the group's intent to "expel the church from the Internet". This was followed by distributed denial-of-service attacks (DDoS), and soon after, black faxes, prank calls, and other measures intended to disrupt the Church of Scientology's operations. In February 2008, the focus of the protest shifted to legal methods, including nonviolent protests and an attempt to get the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the Church of Scientology's tax exempt status in the United States.

Reactions from the Church of Scientology regarding the protesters' actions have varied. Initially, one spokesperson stated that members of the group "have got some wrong information" about Scientology. Another referred to the group as a group of "computer geeks". Later, the Church of Scientology started referring to Anonymous as "cyberterrorists" perpetrating "religious hate crimes" against the church.

Detractors of Scientology have also criticized the actions of Project Chanology, asserting that they merely provide the Church of Scientology with the opportunity to "play the religious persecution card". Other critics such as Mark Bunker and Tory Christman initially questioned the legality of Project Chanology's methods, but have since spoken out in support of the project as it shifted towards nonviolent protests and other legal methods.

Weird that I don't recall ever hearing about any of this!

Anyway, once it was done, I began playing a previously downloaded episode of a T.V. series, but at noon ─ about 15 minutes into the episode ─ my brother announced his intention to return to his bedroom for further rest, so I cancelled out of the feature. I'll cite it once we have finished watching it.

I am unsure if he ran any errands with his van before he finally left on foot to catch a bus so that he could go social-drinking somewhere. I was to bed for my early afternoon nap later than I wanted, but at least I had it.

As for the weather, when first I began watching T.V. this morning, it was bright and sunny. But by the time my wife left for work, it had become overcast. We were to get some rain; and by nightfall ─ which now is by or soon after 5 p.m. ─ it began lightly raining steadily.

I plan the four-mile round trip hike to the government liquor store for four dozen cans of beer, so that is yet ahead of me. The store closes at 9 p.m., thus I need to be on my way by 7:30 for anything like a comfortable walk of it ─ I don't want to be harried.

••◘◘○○

Well, here it is after 9:30 p.m., and I must rush this post to a conclusion.

Feeling to have ebbed somewhat, I needed a Cariboo Malt (7.9% alcohol) to boost me some, so as my excuse I tuned in a sitcom ─ the old Cybill series. Specifically, episode 12 ("Show Me the Minnie") of season four.

I didn't think I had time for anything longer.

I enjoyed it well enough, and watched it here at my bedside computer at this HDTodayTV.tv link.

To my near consternation, it was 7:22 p.m. by the time it was done ─ so much for being on my way by 7:30 p.m., for I hadn't even begun to ready for the outing.

Nevertheless, I managed to get away at 7:40 p.m., which I knew still gave me plenty of time to cover the two miles comfortably before the store closed.

It was raining. Sometimes fairly seriously, but only briefly. It was not until I was coming home that I found the rain to be steady and wetting. And about ¾ of a mile from home, a wind had sprung up ─ but fortunately it was at my back. It's not often, though, that my back begins to get wet before my front!

And so here I am. As yet my brother is not home, so I had best put a finish to this post and get on downstairs to the T.V. We'll be watching a couple or so of our shows, and I'll be doing some drinking ere my bedtime into the wee a.m.

Incidentally, for the second consecutive Tuesday evening visit I have made to the liquor store, I have been served by an absolutely beautiful tall ─ but so darned serious and detached ─ brunette with some foreign accent. Since she is so withdrawn, she says little, so I have little to go by.

It will be interesting if she thaws if she continues working there.
