Read Before Use

A point arrived in my night when I could tell that I was in no frame to be getting up at 3 a.m. for an outing ─ the need to sleep was forcefully felt. So I checked the time ... and it was at least 2:56 a.m.

Obviously I cancelled the alarm and resigned myself to attempting that needed sleep.

My morning began around 6 a.m. Apart from rising once or twice to use the toilet, I had been in bed around eight hours, which is proof I needed to be there. I was awake what seems plenty of occasions over that time, but I was never restless ─ I always got back to sleep, and it was fairly dream-filled.

It may have been around 7:30 a.m. when I went outside to water front yard garden plants; and then I visited the backyard. Nothing there yet required watering, but I had limbered up sufficiently that I also visited the backyard tool shed for six sets of pull-ups and chin-ups.

I did open with three pull-ups, but nothing else was particularly remarkable due to the state my shoulders and arms are in of feeling over-worked from these exercises.

I also worked my damaged right leg with 20 unassisted full flat-footed squats and six unassisted squats ─ the final one was held for a 60-count before I forced myself up from it.

So that was all good enough, somewhat making up for not having the walk.

My younger brother was to emerge from his bedroom just ahead of 9 a.m., so he got possession of the T.V. until he released it to me around 9:10 - 9:15 a.m. after I had joined him.

Activating our Android TV Box, I led us off with a 46-minute video streamed yesterday to YouTube's AnitaK channel: NDP Votes Against Libs + No Budget from Carney and an LGBTQ Rant!!

No Budget, No Problem
Carney refuses to listen to HOC vote and table a budget.

Then it was on to the old T.V. series Route 66 ─ episode five ("The Strengthening Angels") of the first season. This one featured a young-looking Suzanne Pleshette who was probably best known as Bob Newhart's T.V. wife. On The Bob Newhart Show, she had a rather hoarse voice, as I remember; but here on Route 66, it was a pleasanter tone, though quite low.

My source was probably this December 30, 2023, upload to YouTube's Classic Films & Serials Now! channel: Route 66 S1E05 The Strengthening Angels (November 4, 1960). I plan to slowly work our way through the entire series ─ man, I love that old theme tune!

Interesting. A child actress (Gina Gillespie) who played Suzanne's T.V. daughter did a fair bit of acting before quitting in 1965 when she was almost 14. I wonder why she stopped? She is still living today.

Next up was a 19-minute (19:20) video uploaded July 12, 2022, to Youtube's Dates and Dead Guys channel: The Burning of Atlanta EXPLAINED: Why Did General Sherman Wage Total War on the South?

Is total war ethical? General William T. Sherman would have said so. “War is Hell.” In 1864, after Sherman’s army was able to take Atlanta, a vital manufacturing center for the Confederacy, he along with the Union chain of command had to decide what to do next. The course of action they choose will have devastating impacts on Southern infrastructure. It will make thousands of people homeless. And it will destroy what is left of the southern will and capacity to fight. Sherman’s March to the Sea started with the burning of Atlanta. This episode examines fight hand accounts of the event as well as the decision process faced by the Union.

There are references in the YouTube description, so refer to it if interested.

We finished up with a movie, but only got maybe a third of the way through it, so I shall cite it once we have seen it all.

Bridging this narrative towards the evening, I will first say that I finally got back into some afternoon sunning ─ darned near 100 minutes' worth! And thus my lack of blogging time.

Into the evening I was to desire a Cariboo Malt (7.9% alcohol), so here at my bedside computer I tuned in The Carrie Diaries ─ episode three ("Read Before Use") of the first season. I am unsure if I ever watched an entire episode of Sex in the City, but I confess that I am definitely enjoying this dear series ─ it's a shame that character "Carrie Bradshaw" was going to become whomever she was on Sex in the City.

My source was this GOOJARA.to link, and it played flawlessly.

When the show was done, my brother had still not gotten home from his early afternoon bus trip to go social drinking, but he did show up around 8:50 p.m.

I was tempted for a further different series and another beer, but working on this post and then brushing my teeth brought me to 9:30 p.m. If I am to be getting up at 3 a.m., I dare not be later than 10 p.m. in getting to bed.

Enough ─ I forgot to publish this, and now it is 10:03 p.m.
