A Small Marathon of Movies

There was no post here yesterday. For the very first time since last Christmas, my younger brother remained home the entire day, forcing me to start watching T.V. with him in the latter afternoon once I ascertained that he was here to remain.

It had begun snowing early in the morning, and he just didn't feel like contending with it. Actually, the snow probably started before daybreak.

Also before daybreak yesterday, both of my two stepsons had gotten up to watch the FIFA World Cup game between Argentina and France ─ they were rooting for Argentina.

This is the first time in many years (that I am aware of) that either of the lads has ever turned on the T.V. to watch anything. They always watch (whatever it is that they watch) on a computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone.

I am sure that even my brother was surprised. He didn't come downstairs until the game was approaching overtime, so he joined them in lieu of reading the Sunday morning edition of The Province newspaper that I subscribe to.

It was surprising for both of us, I think, to hear the boys' outbursts of excitement at close calls, and of course the winning Argentine penalty kick. We are unaccustomed to such displays from the lads.

By the way, on Saturday early evening I did make the four-mile round trip hike to the nearest government liquor store for Christmas gifts, forgoing stopping along the way to buy any lottery gift packs. My liquor store bill came to $93.61 ─ but it is only in addition to other Christmas gift purchasing I made there previously this month.

You can never go wrong if you say it with booze! At least, not when your recipient is not a teetotaller.

With my brother home all day yesterday, when I joined him for T.V. in the latter afternoon, I fully expected that I would be over-drinking, but I easily held myself to just four cans of the strong (8% alcohol) malt that I seek to keep myself stocked with.

And since it was such an almost special occasion to be watching so much T.V. with him, I opted to just tune in movies (via our Android TV Box).

I led us off with this year's A Christmas Story Christmas. We are fans of the original 1983 movie, so it was fun seeing many of the child actors in the original now as the maturing adults that they have become. And we got a kick out of the movie, as well.

Next I tuned in 2015's The Night Before. It had its highlights, but was not a Christmas movie that I would care to ever watch again.

I wanted to try to find the release of last month of the Trains, Planes and Automobiles that featured 75 minutes of additional footage, but apparently as yet it is not available online anywhere ─ not that I could find, at any rate.

I instead tuned in two movies that I bolted from shortly into them. The first was 2013's White Reindeer that was supposed to be a comedy, but I saw nothing funny in the 10 - 15 minutes that we watched.

We watched even less of the next attempt ─ 2017's Anna and the Apocalypse. I let it roll right up until the cast launched into a musical number ─ the movie was clearly going to be a musical. I had no idea about that ─ so I wanted nothing to do with it.

I was certain that I had seen 2016's The Nice Guys listed as a Christmas movie comedy, so I tuned that in. It had its comedic elements, but was quite a gritty action movie that had nothing to do with Christmas. Nevertheless, it was engrossing, so we had no difficulty sticking with it ─ and quite enjoying it.

I very much enjoyed the young daughter of one of the two main characters ─ she was portrayed by then child actress Angourie Rice.

I also enjoyed looking at leggy young actress Margaret Qualley, never suspecting that she was the same hot young thing in the 2019 movie Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. She was devastatingly alluring in that latter movie!

The final movie we took the time to watch in full was 2010's She's Out of My League. I tuned that one in because I thought that it was going to be a different movie that I had seen a clip for many months ago. The scene of course never materialized, but his movie was lots of fun regardless ─ albeit highly improbable.

Alice Eve was gorgeous as the hot blonde. I had no idea that I had watched her as a regular in the Iron Fist T.V. series. How very coincidental that Alice Eve's character's best friend in the movie was played by Krysten Ritter ─ T.V.'s Jessica Jones herself!

I easily recognized her.

Alice may never have appeared with Krysten in either Iron Fist nor Jessica Jones, but of course the Iron Fist character himself and Jessica Jones worked together in the one-season series The Defenders.

My early evening is upon me, and I want to nip out to do a wee bit of grocery shopping at the No Frills store four or so blocks from here (I have to walk), so I am going to close this post here.

It is very cold out there, and has been lightly snowing most of the day ─ only enough to blanket what we received yesterday.

oooooooooooooo

I decided to hold off on publishing until I was back from my little hike ─ I had to lightly jog some of each direction just because of how cold my ears became. I intended to wear a cap, but I forgot to put it on. And with my shaven skull, my ears were fully exposed to the freeze out there.

It is snowing rather thickly with fine crystals.

Unfortunately, my primary reason for the trip was not stocked on the store's shelves.

I wanted to mention a very good video that my brother and I watched this morning ─ it was nearly two hours long (1:53:15), and uploaded to YouTube on October 27: The TRUTH About Jeffrey Epstein w/ Whitney Webb | PBD Podcast | Ep. 198.

PBD Podcast Episode 198. In this episode, Patrick Bet-David is joined by Whitney Webb, Vincent Oshana & Adam Sosnick.

I have the deepest respect for dear Whitney.

YouTube is probably not the platform for a wonderful interview like this ─ the video is in jeopardy of being banned, alas.

We also watched a pretty good episode of Open Mike with Michael Thiessen that was uploaded to Rumble on November 12 ─ it was over 1½ hours (1:35:29): Deanna McLeod: Pt 1. Bivalent boosters - Five Fatal Study Design Flaws that Should Make you Think Twice.

On this week's episode of OPEN MIKE, Mike is joined by Canadian Covid Care Alliance (CCCA) clinical researcher Deanna McLeod, founder of Kaleidoscope Strategies and Covid Sense, to talk about the lack of effectiveness, testing, and, yes, the safety of the various COVID jabs. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO WANT TO MISS THIS!

Okay, that is all I have time for today.
