A Few Thoughts on Last Evening's Christmas Movie

Just as expressed near the end of yesterday's post, I watched a Christmas movie early that evening while enjoying three or four ounces of dark rum. The movie was 2012's Nativity 2: Danger in the Manger. I had watched its predecessor two or three weeks ago, so I felt that this was a must.

I enjoyed it, though the movie plot seemed weaker than in the first movie. That might well have been my own perception and not therefore necessarily anything amiss with the movie. Realizing that, I am not in full alignment of the criticisms that Wikipedia reported from critics.

I see that co-main character, teaching assistant Mr Desmond Poppy (Marc Wootton), returned from the first movie and had a similar impact on everyone. This time, however, the teacher who was his initial foil but who eventually warmed up to him was somebody new, played by David Tennant.

Ever since becoming familiar with actor David Tennant when he had the long-running role as a mind-controlling murderous villain in the Jessica Jones T.V. series, I find myself noticeably tentative about the guy, associating him with that abhorrent role.

As for Marc Wootton's mentally challenged Mr Poppy, there were times when the equating of "pedophile" would creep into my thinking. And as one critic said of the character as presented by the rather sturdy and bulky actor, he does appear "threatening" when he confronts smaller actors portraying the unfortunate teachers who have run-ins with him. There is a dangerous element to him, particularly because he is so unrestrained and manic.

I have to say that I do very much enjoy the musical productions by the various kids in both movies so far. And I did recognize a few kids who returned from the original movie.

I was delighted and practically 'turned on' to discover that actress Jessica Hynes had a role in this movie ─ she looked spectacularly 'hot' in the Mrs. Santa Claus red dress trimmed with white fur-like material. The woman was beautiful!

I am only familiar with Jessica from her role in the T.V. series Twenty Twelve, but that has been sufficient to make of me a fan who is very attracted to the woman.

Darn it ─ where does my time go? I wanted to try and get out for a short walk, but my evening is already underway, and my eyes are virtually worn out ─ I need to rest them a little.

However, I first want to mention that I have learned of a third Freedom Convoy 2022 livestream in Ottawa on YouTube that I sampled this morning with my younger brother: Ottawalks.

The other two are VIDSTORM and Viva Frei.

I also want to mention that my wife had to work a full day today (with an 11 a.m. start) at the Thai restaurant where she is employed part-time. But she had foolishly gone out yesterday in (I believe) the late afternoon, and was still not back home when my brother and I retired for the night in the latter half of the midnight hour.

This lateness of hers would most likely have meant that she was doing some partying, so I expect that she was not feeling too prime when she emerged from the bedroom a little after 10 a.m. this morning to hurriedly shower and ready herself for her fairly long drive to work.

For myself, I had a needed early afternoon nap. It is rare that I am able to much exceed an hour in bed with these naps, and this was no such exception. However, during that time it managed to rain, so temperatures are nicely above the freezing level.

Alright, that's enough for today.
