It has just passed 8 a.m. as I type these few words, and I am fairly wet and feeling a little cooler than I would identify as being comfortable from a recent frustrated shopping expedition afoot.
Although I did not retire last night until likely around 1 a.m., I set my iPhone 5's alarm for 5:30 a.m. so that I could have a large cup of black instant coffee and otherwise leisurely prepare for the hike. The destination market is just about a mile distant, and it opens at 7 a.m.
Well, as is too usual, I never left home until at least 7 a.m. despite better intentions. It was raining, but that is seldom a deterrent for me.
Alas, while outside the store and fishing through my denim jacket's pockets, I realized that I did not have my face mask with me. I had last worn it Friday morning when I accompanied my younger brother as he left to pick up his girlfriend Bev and drive her to work. That was my opportunity to stock up on four dozen cans of the strong (8% alcohol) beer ─ malt ─ that I like to keep myself stocked with.
Bev and the liquor store are a little better than two miles from here.
It turned out that I had left my face mask atop the two flats of beer, and then covered it over with the partial flat of beer I have mostly worked my way through. I discovered this this morning after returning home without the shopping I had gone out for.
And so here I am with nothing to show for an interrupted night's sleep, and a fruitless wet hike to get some grocery shopping done. Notwithstanding, at least the exercise of walking was undoubtedly beneficial, and I need to be doing more of that.
Anyway, that is my day thus far. And now I am going to get out of my wet jeans and return to bed to try and obtain a little further sleep, if possible; and to warm up.
'Tis now 7:35 pm., and I am quite newly back from making a repeat hike to the store. And although the morning became very sunny for a long while, the afternoon was ever-changing. My walk this early evening was in rain once again.
I was unable to negotiate both physically and mentally within the store as I otherwise would have done this morning, for there were just too many other customers. Also, at least one of the items was either not stocked, or else had been bought out. One other item was entirely forgotten by me, and it was one of the 'essentials' that I shop for.
I just wanted too badly to be done and to get out of the store.
Consequently, even on a Sunday I will not be making any kind of habit of shopping during the daytime if I fail to get out to run the errand during the store's first hour of opening. Of course, it was not daytime when I left here this early evening, for it was dark by then, but I use the term rather loosely.
It is time now for some supper, and an evening of television-viewing ─ along with a couple of cans of strong (8% alcohol) malt ─ so this post ends here.
