Freedom Isn't Free

For some reason, my younger brother arrived home exceptionally early yesterday evening ─ possibly no later than 7:45 p.m. Thus, even had I felt like having a walk, it had become too late for any such venture.

Naturally, we began watching our shows early as a result, and I fully anticipated that ere the evening was done, I would be having a third can of the strong (8% alcohol) malt that I seek to keep myself stocked with. However, by the time I had finished the second can, it felt to me that I was already being affected to excessive degree by the alcohol, and it was not especially pleasant ─ some vertigo even seemed a threat.

There was to be no third can.

Yesterday I did not mention in my post that my wife had Interac e-Transferred $1,500 of the money she owed to our joint chequing account, so it was looking as if this month's mortgage payment (that is likely to be applied to the account on Monday, since Sunday is the date that it would normally take place) would be comfortably met, for her eldest son had yet to make his contribution ─ which would probably be a minimum of $400.

She had texted me at 5:52 p.m. that afternoon to enquire whether I had received the money, so I checked and replied back affirmatively, adding:

Now should I hide it from you in case you misbehave tonight?

My wife has a ruinous casino addiction, and one is located very near to the Thai restaurant where she was working yesterday.

She did not reply back until 8:40 p.m.

Don't have too I leaving can't touch it , no time to pay it back Winking Face with Tongue on Apple iOS 11.1

In other words, because she has a flight booked for Monday that will see her flying off to Rome, Italy, to visit a sister (and a niece and nephew) that my wife has who are living there, the money would be safe from her because she knows that she could not possibly repay the money for the mortgage if she were to stupidly gamble it away later that night.

I texted back:

Don't forget, then!!!

And she responded:

I try 😻

Well, late into the evening as it was drawing to a close, I grew concerned because she was not yet home. Feeding on that concern, I came upstairs here to my computer to log into the financial institution's dashboard for my account.

Woe! To that point, $540 had been withdrawn at an ATM at the casino.

Alarmed, I immediately transferred out $1,000 to what is supposed to be an account private only to me ─ one that she ought not to be able to 'see' whenever she logs into her account dashboard because the account is not joint. I only opened it up early this week, though, so it has not exactly been time tested.

But the damage was done. If her eldest son contributes $400 or even $500, it will be inadequate for the coming mortgage payment.

I was so upset ─ both anxious and angry ─ that when I retired later that night after 1 a.m., I was never to sleep well. Even so, I did not hear my wife finally come home (we have separate bedrooms adjacent to each other).

I typically leave my cellphone downstairs so as not to have my sleep disturbed by spam texting and phone calls, or even misdialed calls, but I did check it to see if she had sought to reach me before I went to bed.

She had not.

When I rose this morning well ahead of 8 a.m., I saw that her previously open bedroom door was closed tight. She was home.

I went downstairs to retrieve my phone, and found that she had tried to reach me by calling at 3:31 a.m. Clearly, she had not as yet been home.

Even so, the idiot was scheduled to work another full day today. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m., so she was going to have to rise by 9:45 a.m. to begin readying if she was going to undertake the rather long drive on time.

My brother was to leave here to go and pick up his girlfriend Bev at 10 a.m. to drive her to work ─ that was to be my early opportunity to visit the backyard tool shed for some exercising out there.

As I was putting on runners to go outside, my wife exited her bedroom and shut herself up in he bathroom, so I proceeded to the shed. I might or might not manage to finish before she had showered and left for work, for my present routine out there involves 11 sets of three different types of exercises, with a 30-count between each set. I seek to approximate a second between each count.

In the pull-ups and chin-ups, of which I perform six sets, I managed the accustomed repetition count of 4 - 2 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 2 that is my norm of late.

I was back into the house just as my wife was putting on her shoes to leave.

I expected her to be tight-lipped and surly, but she was surprisingly upbeat. She even ventured information about the reason for her call to me ─ she had forgotten to take her house key.

Fortunately for her, whomever went to bed last ─ probably my eldest stepson ─ had not ensured that the door had been locked. Consequently, when she was to try it in some desperation, it opened for her.

We had no time to talk about the $540 that she surely gambled away, but as she left and walked towards her car near the mouth of the driveway, I called out to her to be good today ─ not like last night; and added that "we're broke now".

I have no idea if she attempted to extract more money last night, but it is likely. But if she did not make the attempt, then she could well not realize that all our joint chequing account has remaining as its balance is $1 and change ─ that was all that remained when I transferred out the $1,000 to my new private account.

Whether or not she comes home sensibly this evening instead of doing any partying, we likely will not have an opportunity to talk about the $540. My brother knows nothing of her gambling problem, and she does not want her two stepsons privy to her latest lapse.

Now, I already had $600 in my private account, so the grand brought its total to $1,600. However, I am damned well not going to use any of my $600 to replace the $540 that she gambled away. I will make it clear to her that if she honestly cannot replace it, then her two sons are going to have to become involved if there is no other means available to her.

I am keeping the $600 secret.

I have covered for her far too long to my severe financial detriment. She can face her sons' ire if she cannot do aught about the $540 that she stole.

Incidentally, I never had a chance to weigh myself while fully dressed for that exercising out in the backyard tool shed. But after my wife left for work, and before my brother was back home again, I did weigh myself while barefooted, but otherwise attired as I had been out in the shed ─ I was at least 194 pounds, and possibly even 195 pounds.

My brother and I were to watch just two videos this morning on T.V. (using our Android TV Box). I led us off with yesterday's upload to Rumble of well over an hour by A Warrior Calls: Freedom Isn't Free.

As usual for Christopher James Pritchard when he has no guest, his videos cover far too much for me to care to try and provide an accounting. He did include a couple of clips by other people that I wish he had provided links for ─ I would have posted them to my Facebook account.

The second video we got to watch was posted to Rumble yesterday by Vaccine Safety Research Foundation, and was not too much short of two hours in length (1:53:46): Full Episode #63: "Ending Covid Cancel Culture".

Jennifer Sey is an author, filmmaker, and business executive who was fired from her job as Chief Marketing Officer at Levi Strauss & Co when she refused to stop speaking out against the Covid school closures. Jennifer is joined by her husband Daniel Kotzen who was also canceled for opposing the Covid vaccine mandates and for publicly refusing to give their young children the Covid-19 vaccines.
We are all about solutions here at the VSRF and the best way to defeat Covid Cancel Culture is to support content, journalism, art, and film which ask the real questions about the Covid-19 vaccines. Which is exactly what our third guest [this] week, Filmmaker Jennifer Sharp did in her groundbreaking documentary “Anecdotals” which investigated post adverse events experienced post-mRNA vaccination.

My brother sought some bed rest well ahead of me. By the time I got to my own bed for a nap, he seemed to be stirring and getting himself set to leave for the day to once more get out to socialize.

I want to have a bath ─ I last had one on Monday; therefore, I am bringing this post to a close relatively early.
