πŸ’€☠πŸ’€☠πŸ’€☠ All Roads

The actual time I retired early last evening eludes me, but it may have been nigh 10:30 p.m., since my cellphone alarm had been set for 4 a.m. to get me up for a later five-mile walk that would see me doing some grocery shopping at Save-On-Foods when a mile or so from home on the return leg of the walk.

The store opens at 7 a.m., but I find that it is unlikely there will be a cashier stationed at any of the check-out stations if one is too early ─ customers seem expected to use the self-serve stations, and I despise those. Besides, I use cash ─ I need a cashier.

Thus, such walks need start little earlier than 6 a.m. This morning, my hope was to get away no later than 5:45 a.m., however, for I wanted to take my time and maybe even have a half dozen sets of pull-ups and chin-ups early into the walk at an elementary school playground.

As it was to happen, I never got on my way until a very few minutes past 6 a.m. And the day was already broad and bright ─ even if I had the extra time, I had no inclination to be exercising in full view of anyone.

Besides, I had my younger brother's monthly expenses reconciliation cheque to deposit ─ I had it in my possession since early the past week. It was only for $217.71, but it was doing no good in cheque form.

I was to arrive at the store much later than anticipated ─ possibly it was around 7:45 a.m. Part of the reason was because I amended my route a little bit here in north Surrey.

Instead of travelling 148th Street from 100th Avenue (Google Map) to 96th Avenue as is my current custom, I finally checked out the trail that is located at that former intersection ─ Salal Trail. Only rarely have I ever been around that area in daylight, so the trail is nothing to explore in the dark without an excellent flashlight.

If you follow the trail on that map, you will see that it meanders considerably before finally coming out on 96th Avenue very near to the intersection with 148th Street (Google Map).

I must say, I was most impressed with the general stillness of sound as I followed that trail ─ there were only muffled distant sounds of occasional street traffic. That heavy silence very much reminded me of actual wilderness.

Some distance along 96th Avenue I was most surprised, for I recognized the telltale red crest-like head colouring of a pileated woodpecker. Wikipedia and also these photos indicate it to be mainly black-bodied, and Wikipedia also claims that the bird is potentially 1½ feet long.

I only got a brief look at the bird as it spooked ahead of me in some branches and disappeared across the avenue, but it seemed to be a drabber colour than black. As well, I thought its size was approximately that of a northern flicker, which is supposedly a few inches shorter than a pileated woodpecker.

However, it was a fair distance ahead of me when I saw it fly off. So maybe it was larger than I thought it to be.

I just know that there was no mistaking the full red colouring stretching right along the top of its head ─ there was not some mere patch of red as in a downy woodpecker.

I cannot recall ever seeing a pileated woodpecker 'in person' before ─ it was a treat.

By the way, when I rose at 4 a.m., my idiot youngest stepson was up. He did go to bed fairly soon thereafter, but I have no idea if he had just recently come home from somewhere, or had risen earlier due to sleep problems.

I am unsure, but it may have been around 8:15 a.m. by the time I was back home. My brother was to rise a short while later, but I realized when he was set to emerge from his bedroom, so I closed the door to mine and climbed back into bed to rest a spell.

He would first go through the Sunday morning edition of The Province that I subscribe to; I would rest as deeply as I could until I heard the T.V. come to life before I rose and went downstairs to join him.

When I did, and eventually got invited to put our Android TV Box into action, I tuned in quite a long (over 1½ hours) video streamed two days ago to Rumble's Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson channel: Covid or CoVenom with Dr. Bryan Ardis.

Dr. Bryan Ardis makes a fascinating presentation showing the links to Covid and the existence of different venoms that are showing up in Covid-19 patients.

This is the second video in which my brother and I have seen Dr. Ardis speak rather suspiciously of Dr. Robert Malone.

All we had time to watch next was an episode of My Family ─ we have now begun season (or series) two, so this was the premiere episode ("All Roads Lead to Ramon").

My brother thereafter allowed himself very little rest before leaving for the day to socialize ─ it almost bewilders me how anxious he can be to get away. Beer if so ridiculously important to him ─ he often cannot even take opportunity for a brief early afternoon nap. 'Tis no damned wonder he seems to spend at least a little time passing out every evening that I watch some T.V. with him ─ which I will be doing this evening.

We have had some blue sky and sunshine today, but also some cloud. I suppose that I could have done some afternoon sunning following my nap, but the weather is supposed to become dramatically sunnier as the week progresses ─ my time outside afternoon-sunning is indeed soon to come.
