Nature's Embrace

Twitter: Maxx Power

My bedtime last night was not too very much after 10 p.m., although it may have been nearer 10:30 p.m. Sleep was fairly slow in arriving, but I was not much concerned, for my cellphone alarm was set for 4 a.m.

The alarm was to rouse me, but I had experienced a number of wakeful periods; I even rose to use the toilet once.

The plan was to be away on a five-mile walk, leaving ahead of 6 a.m., and stopping on the return at Save-On-Foods approximately a mile from here. Since I fully expected to not be essaying any exercising at the elementary school due to how daylit it would be well before 6 a.m., I instead visited the backyard tool shed after it became light enough and had some exercise there ─ more than I would have taken the time for at the school.

One of the first things I did after rising was boil water and have a mug of 'well-doctored' instant coffee. I had decided that in view of how depleted and enfeebled I had felt all day yesterday on my Sabbath and caffeine fast, I needed the fortification.

I definitely had a good exercise session in the tool shed.

By the way, my thumb joints are still painful, but I do my best to type gently, and I am of late able to bear the pain that comes of using my hands to exercise.

I was pleased that I actually got on my way a few minutes ahead of 6 a.m., and not only was I not greeted by an ever-heating Sun, but there has been little direct sunshine all this day ─ we might even have a little rain overnight.

About a mile from home I made a $200 withdrawal from my chequing account.

If I had to pinpoint the approximate halfway point of my walking route, I would most likely say that it was 100th Avenue & 148th Street here in north Surrey. Well, for only the second time, I opted to take to the Salal Trail at that intersection (Google Map). The trail is part of the complex in the Green Timbers Urban Forest Park.

The first time I gave it a go, I followed it through to 96th Avenue, but this time I wanted to see if I could make my way as close to Green Timbers Way at 96th Avenue (Google Map) as I could.

So I walked Salal Trail as far as Cedar Trail (Google Map), and then blindly turned onto it and followed it in the direction of the man-made Green Timbers Lake. I had not before checked Google Map to work out a route.

Well, I soon enough passed one trail that I saw would go through to 96th Avenue ─ I had actually walked it once before when I had cut through the forest early in a Sunday morning from 100th Avenue on the other side of the lake. Google Maps does not reveal its name, but it is Hemlock Trail.

But this was still not as near to Green Timbers Way as I wanted to get, for in walking 96th Avenue I knew that there was one more trail. And so there was ─ after I had passed by the lower end of the lake, where Cedar Trail had melted into Willow Trail ─ I soon made a sharp left along Willow Trail and came out on 96th Avenue, very near to Green Timbers Way.

That was just about perfect, for it had spared me a half mile of 148th Street, and a lot of 96th Avenue as well. From Green Timbers Way, I walked to Save-On-Foods (Google Map) and got some shopping down before finishing the walk to home.

I cannot deny that I recognized the awesome therapeutic effect bestowed from all of that serene trail walking.

Upon arriving home ─ my younger brother and two stepsons were all still abed ─ I put away my purchases and then got back to bed for some rest.

I soon enough heard my brother stirring about, but I knew that he would involve himself with the Sunday morning edition of The Province that I subscribe to before he began watching any T.V.

I likely teetered upon some sleep more than once before eventually I believed myself to be hearing the T.V., but it was most difficult finding the will to finally get myself up to make another coffee and then join him.

When around 10 a.m. I put our Android TV Box to work, we were to only have time for one video, for it was not too very much short of 2½ hours (2:24:50) ─ yesterday's livestream to Rumble's TheLastAmericanVagabond channel: The Deadly LNP/Spike Protein Design & The New modRNA Ferritin Nanoparticle Universal Flu Injection.

My brother thereafter returned to his bedroom for some bed rest before he left for the day to socialize. I prepared a meal, and then had myself a nap.

There was of course to be no sunning today.

Now a little news concerning my wife, who is presently in her homeland, Thailand. She first left YVR early evening on either January 23 or 24 to visit a sister of hers who lives in Rome, Italy. My wife visited there until quite early in April, and then flew on to Thailand where her mother and some other family members live.

My wife sent me this text yesterday at 7:19 p.m. via Facebook Messenger:

I’m not sure when I coming back probably another month

I am perfectly fine with that ─ at least she is not here and putting my chequing account into constant jeopardy.

I will be sitting up this evening to watch some T.V. with my brother once he eventually returns, and in so doing will have ─ beginning no earlier than 9:50 p.m. ─ two cans of the strong (8% alcohol) malt that I seek to keep in stock. The T.V. selections will be made possible via apps downloaded into our Android TV Box.

I would still rather be rich and living remotely, close to the soil and Mother Nature, as I wish that God intended for me.
