An evil afternoon.
My bedtime last evening was well past 10 p.m. ─ maybe even after 10:30 p.m. But I was not planning on rising before 4 a.m., so that was not an issue.
I had passed much of the earlier evening watching some T.V. including an episode of The Flash ─ this one was season seven's episode 12 ("Good-Bye Vibrations").
I also watched two excellent women's MMA matches on YouTube, the first of which was a video of 22 minutes and featured a match that originally took place on March 31, 2019: Bad Blood π€π₯ Intense Rivalry Between Xiong Jing Nan & Angela Lee.
I was rooting for Angela Lee, but she evidently burned herself out in the fourth round in a failed long submission bid attempting to get Xiong Jing Nan to yield due to an arm bar. Angela had nothing left in the fifth round when Xiong unleashed a fierce barrage of punishing blows.
I have to credit Xiong Jing Nan ─ she has enormous skills.
The second video was nigh 26 minutes, and featured two skilled amateurs who were both making their professional debuts on January 19, 2020: WFC 24 / Brave : Monika Kucinic vs Jenifer Trioreau.
Monika was Slovenian, and Jennifer was French. I was torn as to who to root for, so I opted for Jennifer. Alas, poor Jennifer took a bad three-round beating and lost by decision, although it was readily apparent she did not prevail in any round. But Jennifer impressed everyone by how well she endured the punishment.
Anyway, yes, I did rise at 4 a.m. after several wakeful periods. I wanted to get away well before 6 a.m. for my walk, and was wavering on whether to do the Real Canadian Superstore trip ─ a round trip hike of 5.625 miles. But it was already so warm and muggy, and I found my leeway dwindling away as I vacillated.
I think that the only thing that was sufficiently encouraging was my weigh-in while fully clothed for the walk (sans a jacket): if I am remembering correctly, I logged in between 186 and 187 pounds, which was approximately four pounds less that when I left for my walk the previous a.m.
I sure did not feel light of foot!
I succeeded in forcing myself to get away around 5:45 a.m., for I intended to stop at an elementary school playground early into the walk if the area was clear of onlookers. Sunrise was supposedly 6 a.m.
Well, I had the workout, managing to achieve my new normal in repetitions in six sets of pull-ups and chin-ups (i.e., 4 - 3 - 3 - 3 - 2 - 2). And as usual, I held the final pull-up for a 12- to 15-count, and also did eight slow full-range push-ups in a declined position on a cement ramp.
I walked a very easy pace, and arrived at the store a few minutes ahead of its 7 a.m. opening.
The shopping proved successful in that I found everything I was seeking, but I had a heavy load to bear in each hand on the walk home. And even though I doffed my jacket and walked in my light sleeveless hoodie, my face was regularly getting irritated by rivulets of sweat. My bared arms were also irritated ─ probably by occasional wispy spider web strands, but which psychologically always had me thinking of mosquitoes at work (and me without a free hand to slap with).
I reckon that it was around 8:30 a.m. by the time I was back home, and I did not waste too much time before making a badly needed return to bed where I faded right out for a good hour.
My younger brother and I were to watch a fair amount of morning T.V., but I feel no inclination to spend time citing the shows. Suffice to say that I failed to have an afternoon nap, nor did I sun ─ the fifth such day without that activity. Perhaps what exposure I got this morning to the Sun was at least slightly of benefit.
I am going to end this post here. I am actually surprised that I was able to detail as much as I did ─ the heart was not there for blogging.
